Newsweek reported news...

Remember when the Right bloviated about Newsweek "causing" riots? Well, it turns out that we were Doing naughty things to holy books after all. So, if we don’t want to be detested, we should try not to do detestable things...

So Fake but Accurate is ok then?

Sorry, no. Fake is not acceptable, ever, in a news report. Period.

It wasn’t faked. Newsweek heard a report, went to verify that report, got (poor) verification for that report, and the report (eventually) turned out to be mostly true...

How was the article not _fake_? The article you link to, 3rd paragraph, states expressly:
"the military says its investigation confirmed that no Koran was ever flushed in a toilet, as a now withdrawn magazine report claimed last month."

The article wasn't even mostly true. As your linked article says... 5 incidents, none of which have anything to do with toilets.

Poor? If, by poor, you mean _no_ verification, then sure, it was poorly verified.

What do you call it, then, when the _source_, mind you the only source too, isn't sure of his information, and you publish it any way? That by the way, is from your linked article.

Fake, but accurate is not acceptable. This is tabloid crap. National Enquirer, not Newsweek.

According to the Bush Administration, its okay as long as no one knows. They knew it was going on, they just got pissed that someone ratted them out.

Alexa- Did you bother reading the article?

They, the Bush administration, the military, etc. were aware of the issues, the very few issues, that were going on, and had already done things to prevent, redress, and in general deal with the situations and any future situations. Read the article. No, no, read it until you comprehend it. Now, think, think until you understand the situation, until you see it without your rose-colored glasses, your prejudice, or your bigotry. Only then open your mouth.
